Ian's Arm

Well, it's official! Ian has broken his wrist! He fell off his bike on this past Saturday...flew over his handlebars and landed on a concrete sewer drain. We thought it might be just sprained, so we waited to see...well, we took him today to my orthopedist's office and it is most definitely broken. He didn't have to get a cast, just a splint that has to be worn all the time for the next 5 weeks. It's always something!!

We're getting close!

In a week, Maureen and Dennis will pass thru GA on their way to FLA! We will follow them down on Sunday to spend several days in Siesta Key! We're all very excited and can't wait to see GGJane, and the aunts and uncles. The warmer weather will be quite welcome too!

Ian's New Class

I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile....I threw a baby shower for my best friend, Dominique, so I've been quite busy!

Our latest news is that Ian just tested into the gifted program, called Venture, in our county. He's really loving it! He rides a bus every Thursday for a combined program with another school nearby. There are several kids in the class he's friends with and is feeling like he really fits in. It's also a good challenge for him! Next year, we'll have Kenzie tested for the same program and cross our fingers for the same results!

We hope everyone is doing well! We'll be the in Ohio for Thanksgiving this year, and in GA for Xmas. The kids are excited about our upcoming trip to Disney right after Xmas. We're hoping to see everyone either at the holidays or on our annual trip in February to Siesta Key! We miss you!!

Take care,
Roxanne

Soon to be the First Day of School!

Ian and Kenzie are anxiously awaiting Monday as it's the First Day of School! Ian will be in fourth grade in Ms. Campbell's class and his best friend, Matthew Gilkey, is in there too. Kenzie is in third grade in Mr. Chaffee's class, who Ian had for class last year. She doesn't have a close friend in there, so it's been a bit of 'drama' for her...Chris and I are glad because it may cut down on her talking slightly. However, we're not expecting miracles with our 'social butterfly!'

I'll be sure to post an update sometime during the next week as the 'drama' continues! :^)

They're back!

The kids are back from their "I'm Spoiled Rotten!" tour with the grandparents! While it was nice to have a break, we really did miss them. Ian and Kenzie had a wonderful time with all of their grandparents. The highlights for them seem to be sailboating with Grandpa Dennis (Ian), shopping, haircut, and nails with Grandma 'Reen (Kenzie), and both liked Monsoon Lagoon (water park) and tubing. On the way back with my parents, they stopped at the Air & Space Museum in Dayton, a Kentucky Horse Farm in Lexington, KY, and the Chattanooga Children's Museum. Apparently, the horse farm was the favorite on the three-day trip back.

Chris and I did have a fun trip to St. Augustine and loved the fort and the lighthouse tours. We figured out that it was the first vacation that we've taken without kids in 10 years (ie. the last one was camping when I was 5 months pregnant with Ian!). It definitely won't be so long until our next trip alone! In fact, our next trip will be a short trip to Savannah in February 2009.

On a different note, we would love for any of you to come down and visit us in Atlanta...we have a guest room with a private bath waiting!!

We hope to see you at Thanksgiving, if we don't see you sooner! Keep in touch!
Love,
Roxanne & Chris

Kenzie and Ian head to Camp Grandma ('Reen)!

Well, Chris and I have finished our two week visit in Ohio and are headed back to Ga early tomorrow morning. However, the kids get to stay at Maureen and Dennis' for another week. My parents will then get them and take a three-day tour down to GA. They should be thoroughly spoiled rotten when they get back! :^) In the mean time, Chris and I will get to have a four-day vacation at a B&B in St. Augustine! Yea!! It's been a wonderful visit and we wish we could have seen everyone! Hopefully we'll see more of you when we're up for Thanksgiving this year.
Take care and we'll miss you!
Love,
Roxanne

June 24 - Enjoying Summer

Great idea. Took me awhile to figure out how to signup & login but I made it. June has been pretty quite for Tom & I. No traveling except down to Mom's on Wednesdays. That was actually intruped for a week due to damage on I75S. Looking forward to Michael & Taylor's visit in July. Haven't pinned down Sarah & Kevin to when they will get back down here but keeping my fingers crossed it sometime this summer.

End of the school year for the GA Kennedys

Ian and Kenzie are extremely excited to 'officially' begin their summer vacation this weekend! In honor of it, the whole family has had a completely lazy day today.

Ian finished 3rd grade with all A's in his classes and has become quite proficient at writing. He wants to write a book, maybe even a series! Who knows what will happen?! Kenzie has also finished 2nd grade with all A's as well. She's becoming a little math fanatic and loves to learn new things about it. What a 'sponge!'

Chris and I are trying to decompress from our busy school year and finish up with two workdays after the Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully, we can do it quickly since Chris starts up with teaching workshops the next week and I start a grad school course on June 9th.

We will be making the trek to the lake to see Maureen and Dennis on June 21st. After a relaxing week or so, we'll make our way to my parents in Lexington, OH on June 30th. We hope to see some more of the Flanagan family members during that span!

Keep in touch! - Roxanne

The New Flanagan Family Letter

Welcome, Extended Flanagan Family!
This is the new 21st century version of the family letter! I thought this might be a better way we can all keep in touch! No delays and all the cousins can add to it too! All of this is free and if you are not able to post, let me know and I'll add you in, or figure out why you're having trouble.
Take care and post soon!
